What Is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a state of mind, that is a thought-response to something happening in your life. It is one of the most common mental health problems. It affects around 1 in 20 people and there was over 5 million cases of anxiety in the UK last year.
Although it is not known exactly what causes an anxiety disorder to start it is understood to be a combination of factors including stressful life experiences and personality type.
As well as having to endure the horrible experience of severe anxiety or anxiety attacks, if you don't treat your anxiety you may suffer long term effects including self-loathing, social isolation, gastrointestinal disorders and a lowered immune system.
